UNITED SHOW COMMITMENT IN SUPPORTER ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

20 October 2009

Our supporters continued support has been vital and a key-component to the team spirit and enthusiasm especially when approaching a home fixture.

Their undying multiple presence and passion has been inspiring to all of us in the team. We can proudly say that Maritzburg United is among the top five home supported team in the entire Absa Premiership , and without doubt only after 7 years in the Elite League we are certainly number one in KZN, that on its own speaks volumes about their love for the team and soccer in general.

Regardless of not having a proper supporters structure, the team has enjoyed an abundance of support at home and that is something we will always cherish and appreciate from them.

It is through these motives that together with the Marketing department will be hosting a public interaction workshop open to every soccer fanatic in Maritzburg and surrounding areas regardless of which team they support, the objective of the workshop will be to outline the vision, objectives and plan of the team and the structure of supporter development but more importantly it will be to listen to the people of greater Pietermaritzburg and the supporters of The Team of Choice and get their input in the implementation and realisation of the Supporter development initiatives.

This initiative will be one amongst many planned initiatives for the season as part of supporter development and education.

The 1 st workshop will be held on Sunday 25 th October 2009 at AF Wood Hall, Boom Street in Pietermaritzburg (next to Hammarsdale Taxi Rank) at 09:00 am. To engage supporters on different issues and also to unfold plans, programmes and initiatives, Maritzburg Management including Chairman Farouk Kadodia, Team Manager Quinton Jethoo, Head Coach Gordon Igesund, Head of Development Katz Naidoo and newly appointed Media & Supporter Liaison Officer Zazi Nxele will be panelling the meeting.

For more information supporters can call the office on 033 345 5666 or call Media & Supporters Liaison Officer Zazi Nxele on 072 1500 858.
