22 December 2009
"Firstly as the Chairman of the club, I would like to commend the “people of the city” for the support shown throughout the good times and the bad."
I know it can be frustrating when things don’t go our way, but our supporters have done their part to motivate our players so that positive energy will spur on everyone at the “Team of Choice”.
I mentioned in one of my recent columns that it was getting uncomfortable, and while we have improved we will need to keep our winning ways at home. Looking back at our game last Sunday I was pleased to see the brand of football that the lads displayed once again with the only disappointment being our failure to convert our numerous chances in front of goal.
Despite a nightmarish programme in December, I think the coach and the team have come through relatively well. The defeats at home to Platinum Stars and Kaizer Chiefs at the beginning of the month were certainly not an ideal start, but the character and performances shown in the remaining games was admirable. Overall the performance’s under new mentor, Middendorp is positive and puts us in a realistic contention for a top 8 finish come February.
The Month of January will see the 2010 African Cup of Nations take place in Angola and ahead of the World Cup here next year, promises to be an exciting tournament. Midfielder, Noah Chivuta will be representing the Zambian national team and I wish him all the best.
Finally during this festive period please take care whilst traveling and merry making and be moderate in whatever you do.
See you in 2010!
