United release players

Maritzburg United Football Club have confirmed the release of players, as
preparation for the 2014/2015 Premier Soccer League season resumes in
earnest.

Players can officially join or leave clubs as of the 1st of July and the Team of Choice cconfirmed that veteran defender Peter Petersen and
Orlando Smeekes have been released, while Ghanaian Striker, Yakubu Mohammed had his contract terminated and has returned back home to Ghana.

Petersen, who joined the Team of Choice in 2007, has played a vital role for the Team over the last few years and together with goal keeper Shuaib
Walters, are United's most capped players with 119 official appearances.

Dutch speedster Smeekes, who has been plagued by injury during his stay at the team has also not had his contract renewed.

Supersport United FC have already snapped up Michael Morton, with Left Back Ruben Cloete confirmed as a Bloemfontein Celtic signing recently, while
Mario Booysen and Rheece Evans have signed with Mamelodi Sundowns
