COACH KOMPELA HAPPY WITH PRE- SEASON PREPARATIONS

Maritzburg United Head Coach Steve "Mphathi” Komphela is happy with the pre-season preparations as he takes his boys through the paces at the two week camp in the Midlands.

This is the second week that the Team of Choice is on camp, and they participated in the uThukela Mayoral Cup last Sunday as part of building a formidable side for the new season.

"I am happy with the way the boys played at the tournament. Free State Stars scored a late goal to win the game, but I took a lot of positives from that game,” said Komphela .

The coach believes that he is building a side that will compete strongly in the coming season saying:

“I would rather under promise and over perform. The important thing is to deliver on what you have promised.”

Asked if there are still gaps in the squad that needed to be filled, the articulate mentor replied:

“With the departure of ( Heinrich) Isaacks, I need a player in midfield that will fill that gap and dictate matters there. I am also looking for a striker, then we shall have covered all gaps”.
