Maritzburg United 0-0 AmaTuks
5 December 2014

It was to be a single point earned after Maritzburg United were held to a goal-less draw by AmaTuks at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday.

Both sides had chances on the night but somehow could not find the net. Maritzburg enjoyed the better of the opening half, and had the first opportunity of the game when Modli Cele fired wide on 12 minutes.

Two Thami Mkhize free kicks then nearly ended in goals as Thokozani Sekotlong and John Paintsil headed inches wide before Mkhize’s 28th minute effort was saved.

Nhlanhla Vilakazi then wasted a 42nd minute chance as the hosts continued to dominate.

Tuks had some decent chances in the second half, with Atusaye Nyondo going through on goal in the 49th minute but he shot wide of goal.

AmaTuks defender Tebogo Monyai came close 15 minutes from time when his close range attempt shaved the Maritzburg post.

Geofrey Massa was then denied by a fine save from his long range shot by Virgil Vries late on in the game as the sides had to settle for a point each.

Starting line up: Vries, Mabaso, Banda, Paintsil, Hartog, Sekotlong, Cele, Vilakazi, Awal,Anas and Mkhize

Substitutes: Walters, Mandaza, Lentjies, Mngonyama, Van Wyk, Zulu, Shandu
