Preview: Polokwane City v Maritzburg United
19 December 2014
The Team of Choice will be out to end 2014 on a high note with a victory away to Polokwane City on Saturday night.
The match kicks off at 20H15 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Maritzburg (sixth position on the standings) go in to the game on the back of a 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, having gone four matches since their last victory.
Polokwane meanwhile came down to earth with a bang when they lost 5-1 to the University of Pretoria in midweek, a result which brought to an end a run of seven matches without defeat for the Limpopo side.
The two clubs have met on only three previous occasions, with United enjoying superiority over Rise and Shine thanks to two victories and one draw.
The two sides have already met in the league this season, with United winning 2-1, thanks to goals from Mohau Mokate and Kwanda Mngonyama.
Maritzburg will be without left-sided player Khumbulani Banda, the Zimbabwean forced to sit out this game due to suspension.
Coach Steve Komphela is expecting the home side to come out all guns blazing on Saturday as the Limpopo outfit remain true to their win-at-all-costs mentality.
"They play a crazy game those ones. They simply defy logic. They either get or they give. That is how they roll. Unlike some teams, who will have middling days, they do not have such," Komphela told the Sowetan.
"They either go big or go home. We faced their current coach Kosta Papic while he was still at Chippa United, and we know exactly how he plays. They will come at you.
"If you are sensible enough to accept that they will run at you, you will have to be patient and just get the ball from them and you will be effective. They do tend to open up easily at the back and that is what we expect."
