Paintsil: Top eight possible with humility and determination

6 May 2015

Maritzburg United defender John Paintsil is confident that the Team of Choice have the ingredients needed for a top eight finish.

Maritzburg play Orlando Pirates at the Harry Gwala Stadium tonight before finishing their campaign with a KZN derby against AmaZulu in Durban on Saturday.

United are currently in eighth spot, two points above Free State Stars and Polokwane City.

Former Ghana international Paintsil is pleased with his own contribution this season which has seen him featuring in 25 league matches, and also with the team’s overall performances, and feels they are in with a very good shot at a top eight finish.

"So far so good for me. My season with Maritzburg has been very good. We are pushing for a top eight finish. I'd like to give credit to my team-mates, technical team as well as the management - they have all given a good account of ourselves," he told Goal.

"We can do it through humility, determination and hard work like we are doing at the moment. Even a top seven finish is still possible. We have two fixtures left, both home and away. I'm confident that we can grab six points, but I also think a win and a draw would still be good enough," Paintsil added.
