Maritzburg United 0-0 Jomo Cosmos
10 August 2015

Maritzburg United began their Absa Premiership campaign by picking up a point from a 0-0 draw with Jomo Comos at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Monday evening.

Playing on front of a well-turned out home crowd, the Team of Choice were on top for most of the 90 minutes but failed to make their chances count in front of goal.

Kurt Lentjies was close early on, but his third minute volley went wide of goal, while Cosmos were close to scoring 0n 13 minutes when Pentjie Zulu hit the bar.

Lentjies had another go at goal, as did Ashley Hartog, but neither could find the target, Lentjies then having to depart the match before half time with a hamstring injury.

Maritzburg continued to dictate the game in the second half, although the visiting side had a couple of chances 15 minutes from time when Mxolisi Macuphu shot tamely at Virgil Vries before Wiseman Maluleke hit the side-netting.

United had chances to win the game late on, but David Booysen miscued with a back-post volley before Thamsanqa Mkhize was unable to poke the ball past Ezenkosi keeper Sherwin Naaicker after a storming run.
