MUFC vs AIDS EVENT

Ahead of the World Aids day on the 1st of December 2015, Maritzburg United and Whizzkids United joined forces in staging an event aimed at using football as a means to reach out to young people to promote a healthy lifestyle and drive the HIV and AIDS awareness campaign.
Ahead of the World Aids day on the 1st of December 2015, Maritzburg United and Whizzkids United joined forces in staging an event aimed at using football as a means to reach out to young people to promote a healthy lifestyle and drive the HIV and AIDS awareness campaign.
Whizzkids United is a world leader in using the power of football to transform the lives of disadvantaged young people. Using football as a tool, they engage, educate and empower youth, successfully equipping them with skills and confidence to reach their full potential. They offer the most comprehensive approach to HIV prevention, care, treatment and support for youth in the world. Whizzkids United is situated in Edendale, KwaZulu Natal.
Outside of the sanctuary of the their Health Academy, poverty, domestic violence, rape , sexual abuse, crime and substance abuse form the backdrop to their work.
“We are committed to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among the youth through soccer, which appeals to the majority of disadvantaged youth”, said MUFC Marketing and Communications Manager, Brian Zuma.
“Whizzkids also use football to drive their messages and they are serving the same people who support Maritzburg United. That is why we have a Memorandum of Understanding, to work together in promoting healthy living.” concluded Zuma.
Companies affiliated 5-a-side teams to participate in the tournament that was held at A.B Jackson fields outside Harry Gwala Stadium on the 28th of November 2015. Stefan Kunze, the South Africa Director of Whizzkids United addressed the players before the start of the tournament, which was a very social event with teams bringing their braais and drinks. The winning team will donate its price money to the charity of their choice and they also won MUFC signed jerseys for themselves.
