THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT

25 January 2016
The past week has indeed been a very traumatic, emotional and distressing week for Mondli Cele’s family as well as ourselves at Maritzburg United.

The players in particular, were dealt a huge blow with the tragic departure of one of their own. We have already started, and will continue with the process of helping them to heal through counselling.

We wish to extend our deepest gratitude for the support we and the Cele family received from the different football Clubs both in the PSL and NFD, the Department of Sport and Recreation, fans of Maritzburg United and other teams who came in their numbers to the service and burial of Mondli Cele.

We believe that he was accorded a deserving funeral for a player we loved so much. To all the speakers at the funeral, we thank you for your encouragement to the club, never to give up and to fight not only for survival, but for honours.

We are confident now that the players have buried Mondli, they will find closure as part of the healing process and focus on what he committed himself to do, to help the club go up the PSL log table.

That business commences today at training as we prepare for a very big game on the 30th of January 2016 against on form Mamelodi Sundowns at Harry Gwala Stadium.

This will be our first game without Mondli. We urge all football lovers in Pietermaritzburg and the province, to come to the stadium to give our boys the courage to overcome what many will consider a mammoth task against the “Brazillians”.

Whether you are a Pirates, Chiefs, Celtic or Amazulu fan, we appeal to all KZN football supporters to give support to Maritzburg United as we proceed with this journey to remain in the PSL.
