A spirited late fight-back proved to be in vein for the Team of Choice as they lost 3-2 the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday night.

 

 

Maritzburg started well and winger Philani Zulu went close to scoring when his header flashed wide of the far post on eight minutes.

 

Hlompho Kekana put Downs in front on 36 minutes when after playing a 1-2 with Leonardo Castro before scoring from close-range.

 

Khama Billiat made it 2-0 in the 49th minute with clinical finish from the right hand side of the box after going clean through on goal.

 

Kekana beat a couple of defenders before picking his spot at the far post; 3-0 to the visitors after 64 minutes.

 

Evans Rusike reduced the deficit for the PMB team in the 83rd minute with a clinical finish after combining with Gregory Maasdorp,

 

Brian Onyango scored a brilliant volley deep in added time, but there was to be no way back for United.
