Polokwane City 3-1 Maritzburg United

03 February 2016

A first half strike from Deolin Mekoa was cancelled out by three second half goals as the Team of Choice were beaten by Polokwane City on Wednesday night.

After both sides had enjoyed several early goal attempts, the Team of Choice took a 37th minute lead when Mekoa combined with Kurt Lentjies, beating a defender before firing in a well-taken goal.

But Polokwane came out firing after the break and were back on level terms in the 57th minute through Muzikayifani Ngidi's outstanding effort.

Five minutes later it was 2-1 to the hosts, Thobani Mncwango scoring after being assisted by Ngidi.

Brian Onyango was red-carded for a hand-ball on 65 minutes but Jabu Maluleke's penalty kick hit the crossbar.

Substitute Sipho Jembula converted Nazier Jacob’s 87th minute delivery to seal the win for Rise and Shine.

Polokwane: Chigova, Barends, Hlongwane, Nyadombo, Tema, Motumi, Jacobs (Bogere 89'), Maluleke, Alexander, Mncwango, Kanyenda [Ngidi 22' (Jembula 72')]

Maritzburg: Verbauwhede, Teyise, Booysen, Onyango, Mogapi, Makaringe, Zulu (Mkhize 62'), Mekoa M (Maasdorp 83'), Lentjies, Mekoa D, Rusike
