First MDC win sees Maritzburg up to eighth
26 September 2016

Maritzburg United’s Reserve team beat their Orlando Pirates counterparts 1-0 at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg last weekend.

Pirates had gone into Saturday’s match with two wins from their opening two Multichoice Diski Challenge outings, while the Team of Choice’s reserves had picked up two draws – 0-0 with Bloemfontein Celtic and 1-1 with Highlands Park.

Maritzburg has enjoyed the better of a goal-less first half and went on to score the only goal of the match in the 70th minute when Lebohang Maboe got on the score-sheet.

United, who are in eighth position with five points from three games, are next in action in the MDC on Saturday 8 October when they host SuperSport United at the Harry Gwala Stadium (10:00am kick off).
