Maritzburg United midfield star and S.A Under 23 International Deolin Mekoa, has been roped in as late replacement for Tebogo Langerman in the Bafana bafana squad to face Senegal this Saturday and Mozambique on Tuesday.
Mekoa who was part of the S.A Olympic team in Rio, is definitely part of the future with the National Team. The versatile player who is happy to play as right mid-fielder, and was used by Da Gama at left-back at the Olympics is fast making a name for himself in the PSL.
“Albeit this being a replacement call up, being called to be part of the National Senior team is always an honour. Whether one gets to play or not, being part of the environment with the best players in the country is a great experience,” said Mekoa.
Marketing and Communications Manager Brian Zuma says Mekoa call up to Bafana is a valuable experience for the youngster. “These call-ups shape the mindset of players to see themselves as assets to the country. We have no doubt about the National Team qualities that Deolin possesses,” said Zuma.
Bafana Bafana lock horns with the Lions of Teranga tomorrow, Saturday 12 November, at Peter Mokaba Stadium. Kick off is at 3pm.
