Team of Choice edged out by Amakhosi

Maritzburg were left empty handed after losing 2-1 to Kaizer Chiefs in a riveting Absa Premiership match at packed Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday night.
The match kicked off 30 minutes late after heavy rains and a thunderstorm in Pietermaritzburg had delayed proceedings.
There were chances from the outset in what turned out to be a thrilling encounter played in front of a full house.
Mohau Mokate went close for Maritzburg when his 16th minute shot was superbly saved by Itumeleng Khune.
Mngonyama was also denied by Khune, while Ramahlwe Mphahlele headed wide for the visitors.
Amakhosi drew first blood, scoring five minutes after half time when Willard Katsande headed in George Maluleka’s free kick.
The equaliser came on 73 minutes, Mokate showing quick feet, a good touch and a sublime finish to turn the ball into the far corner of the net after excellent work by Lebo Maboe.
But parity was only to last for a few minutes as Chiefs regained the lead when Siphiwe Tshabalala guided home a cross from the right wing.
The Team of Choice did their best to try and create a second goal, but were frustrated by a resolute defence while there was also a late headed miss by Brian Onyango as United’s six game unbeaten run came to an end.
