Davids urges Maritzburg to keep on improving
28 April 2017
Coach Fadlu Davids wants to ensure Maritzburg improve in certain areas as they get set to face Absa Premiership log leaders Cape Town City at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Monday afternoon.
The Team of Choice have won three of their last four league games to move to seventh position on the table.
Commenting after their most recent victory, a 3-2 win over Chippa United in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday, Davids has urged his men not to rest on their laurels and to try and up their games further.
"We have to improve in those games because we've got top tier teams coming up and all three teams fighting for the title: Cape Town City, Wits, Platinum Stars in between, and then Sundowns," Davids told Kick Off.
"So the next couple of games it's really out there to test us and we've got to improve things because normally you get punished.
"Against Chippa United, we really made it difficult for ourselves and next time you'll really not go away with three points.
"It was a fantastic first half and tactically we really put ourselves in positions where they didn't know what to do. But the disappointing things was that in the first half we should've sealed the game and not gone to the interval with a one goal lead," he added.
The first round encounter between CT City and Maritzburg at the Athlone Stadium ended in a 3-2 win for Eric Tinkler's side, who have also won three their of their last four league matches.
