TEAM OF CHOICE READY FOR URBAN WARRIORS

Maritzburg United play their first home match of the 2017/18 campaign when they take on Ajax Cape Town at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Absa Premiership encounter is set for a 19H30 kick off.

The Team of Choice opened their league account with a 2-0 victory (goals from Deolin Mekoa and Lebohang Maboe) over Platinum Stars last Sunday, while Ajax drew 1-1 with Golden Arrows.

That followed Maritzburg’s 1-0 triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 the previous weekend.

However, head coach Fadlu Davids is looking ahead, rather than back at what is now history.

“That was our first three points, I’ll rather take it that way, and we have another three points to play for on Wednesday,” he said after the Dikwena win.

“As the game went on we got stronger towards the end and that was a good sign. It’s a completely different game, a home game against Ajax. We saw how good they are [against Arrows on Saturday], it will definitely be a tough match and our guys are going to have to be up for it.”

United have a good record against Ajax – in 22 league matches they have won nine, drawn six and lost seven. In 11 home games, the Team of Choice have won eight and lost just once against the Cape team.

Last season United beat the Urban Warriors 2-1 both home and away.

Maritzburg team from previous game v Platinum Stars: Mpandle, Fransman, Sanoka, Weidlich (Xulu 39'), Shandu, Ndlovu, Makaringe, Mekoa, Maboe, Van Wyk (Kunene 46'), Rusike
Subs: Ofori, Xulu, Saal, Mokate, Fillecia, Kunene, De Rueck
