The Team of Choice now have more than two weeks to prepare for their next game, away to Chippa United on October 18, due to the international break.
Coach Fadlu says he has been pleased with Maritzburg's overall form this season, but admits they were under par against Ea Lla Koto at the Harry Gwala Stadium last Friday.
"Up to now the performances have been fantastic. I don't think any of the games that we have played till now [leading up to the Stars game] - whether it was MTN or whether it was the league - we have not had anything but fantastic performances.
"We have to take [the Free State Stars performance] on the chin. These games come where you have three, four of your crucial players not really in [form].
"It happens. If one player does not have a good game then you need the others to step up, if nobody is really taking charge, feeling the game.
"Then of course it's better to try and grind the result, to try to keep it 0-0 or score a goal if you can," he explained.
Coach Fadlu has welcomed the break to domestic action as a chance to regroup and to work on some key areas on the training ground.
"We have more time now, two weeks to really work on the training ground, that's the only way its going to get better. If you look at it objectively, we played Chiefs, we played Pirates, and we had fantastic performances. All our performances until [the Stars game] have been good. Realistically we have been really good. Now it’s a case of reset.
"I take it as one bad performance, which we have to correct. I can accept that out of eight games, we had one bad game. Let's move on, let's work on it."
