Maritzburg face the Citizens at the Princess Magogo Stadium (7-30pm kick off) after the Cape side were forced to move the game to KZN due to the unavailability of pitches in drought-stricken Cape Town.

But Mokate has warned that the change of venue – playing close to home, does not guarantee anything.

“Yes, it’s like a home game for us, but we can’t take it for granted we will win at home. It is going to a difficult match for us, but I am optimistic we can pull it off.

“It’s going to be a tough game because both sides need the three points for their own reasons. City have a few players back from injury, like Aubrey Ngoma, they are a quality side.

“I hope the fans can continue to support us, I know we haven’t been giving them anything, but I’m sure that tomorrow night thy will be smiling,” he added.

The Team of Choice marksman is hopeful that the KwaZulu-Natal capital city club can break their recent goal-scoring jinx in KwaMashu.

“We have been working hard, especially on scoring goals. We have been playing very good football, and defensively we have been good. It’s just that we need to score goals.

"If we can get numbers in the box that will help. Sometimes when we get in the box we start to panic. So if we can get more confident in front of goal then we can convert our chances. It’s up to the players to take responsibility and take the opportunities that come.

“If you keep thinking, I’m not scoring, I’m not scoring, sometimes it can be frustrating. But I’m happy with what I have seen us as a team doing in training and I think this time we will manage to get it right.

“I’m confident, the coach said it’s not only us strikers who have to score. Like we defend as a team, we must also attack as a team and that should make it easier for us,” he concluded.
