MARITZBURG LOOK TO THE FUTURE WITH FARMER SIGNING

Maritzburg United have bolstered their defence with a young man tipped to become a top-class central defender, Denwin Farmer.

The national Under-23 player could potentially be a mainstay in the Team of Choice defence for years to come, and Maritzburg have shown their faith in Farmer by handing him a four-year contract after snapping him up from SuperSport United.

The 21-year-old centre-back believes he is at the best possible place for his budding career to flourish and is determined to make a positive impact during his time in Pietermaritzburg.

“I’m delighted to play for a team like Maritzburg who have such a good support structure. Good coaches, great fans supporting the team,” the Port Elizabeth-born defender told maritzburgunited.co.za this week.

“It’s a team where young players are given a chance, where one can grow and learn. I think it will be a team which I can fit into, and I will be able to add value to the team.

“I’m already learning a lot from coach Fadlu [Davids], a great coach who is always helping me with my positional play, helping me grow as a player.

“I came here to showcase my talent, to show people what I’m really about, and to help the club win things,” he concluded.

The Team of Choice this week also confirmed the arrival of midfielder Keagan Buchanan from Kaizer Chiefs as they get set to mount a renewed challenge in the PSL after their success of last season.
