ZAKRI EAGER TO CONTRIBUTE AT UNITED

Ivorian marksman Yannick Zakri wants to help Maritzburg United build on their exploits from last season.

Zakri has arrived at the club with three games played in the ABSA Premiership and while United have collected just one point so far, he believes the club can gain momentum with hard work and unity.

"I'm happy with the team. We can work together. We can do the job together. I'm happy with the coach, with everyone,” he said.

Zakri, who penned a two-year permanent deal with the club this week, says he has settled in well.

“They took me in like a brother, so makes me work harder."

The 27-year old, who joined from Mamelodi Sundowns having spent the second half of last season on loan at Ajax Cape Town, is excited by the prospect of working with coach Fadlu Davids.

"On the training field, the coach is a very good person. We are training very hard in and out of the field. Fadlu is a very nice person,” Zakri said.

The Ivory Coast international has reiterated that he is here for one goal and that is to help the Team of Choice have a successful season and at the same time, to try to prove to the rest of South Africa his true potential as a striker.

"We must forget about Sundowns and Ajax and let's focus on Maritzburg, let's focus on the team, let's help the team and we will see what happens later," Zakri said.

"This is not about only me. It's about the team. That's why I say we will work together, we will fight together to win the game together. Alone I can't do anything," he concluded.
