MEKOA SEEING MOMENTUM SHIFT AT MARITZBURG

After a challenging start to the season, Maritzburg United are starting to gain some momentum.

The a Team of Choice return to the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday to face Cape Town City after being on the road for the last two weeks.

Coach Fadlu Davids and his side picked up their first win of the campaign away to high flying, Bloemfontein Celtic and then grabbed a point in a tough KwaZulu-Natal derby against AmaZulu in Umlazi on Tuesday evening.

The Citizens will arrive in Pietermaritzburg full of confidence having beaten United in an MTN8 quarter-final in August and after clinching the title at the weekend.

Midfielder Deolin Mekoa says the team are ready to make up for that early season blow from the Cape side.

"Cape Town City are a good team. I watched the final, they were impressive. They have a good bunch of players," he said.

"It will be a good game tomorrow because we want to make amends for that loss in the cup."

Mekoa came off the bench against Usuthu and injected pace and energy into coach Fadlu's team at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

"I am always ready when I come on. I tell myself when you come on you have to help the team win, so I have to be focused on the bench," Mekoa added.

United have kept four clean sheets in a row and will looking to continue their upward trajectory against City.
Kick-off is at 8pm.
