DE REUCK, COACH FADLU LAMENT MATSATSANTSA DEFEAT

Rushine De Reuck has urged Maritzbug United to be more clinical in front of goal after they were once again left empty handed when they were edged out 1-0 away to SuperSport United on Saturday.

A dubious penalty awarded to the home team was enough for Kaitano Tembo’s team to claim victory over the Team of Choice.
Despite the loss the visitors' rock at the back, De Reuck had a stellar game and was awarded with the Man of the Match award at the Mbombela Stadium.

The defender is confident they can turn this bad spell around if they convert the chances that they are creating.

“We just need to push on and work harder and turn it around," he said. "Hopefully we can get the three points in the next game. I think we need to be more aggressive in front of goal because we create many chances. The only way we can win games is if we score goals.”

United have just a solitary victory to their name all season which came away to Bloemfontein Celtic.

The latest loss means they have now been dropped into the relegation zone with just goal difference separating them and their next opponents, Baroka FC.

Coach Fadlu Davids was left disappointed with the award of the penalty but is taking it on the chin as they look to claim a massive three points against Bakgaka on Saturday.

“I think we started the game really well, on the front foot, creating chances perhaps where we should have scored but then they got back into it in the last ten minutes of the first half but really you can’t give a penalty when somebody is falling over his own feet but we take it," he stated.

"When things are not going for you, such decisions go against you but we have to be brave and keep our heads up. We have a home game against Baroka before we close and that is what we have to focus on.

"It's just disappointing for the players. To give everything like they did today and still come out with nothing is disappointing.”
The Pietermaritzburg outfit will host the Telkom Knockout champions in four days time in what will be a crunch encounter at the foot of the table. Kick-off is at 20h15.
