The Team of Choice take on Ea Lla Koto in an Absa Premiership match at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday night (19H30).
Having begun 2019 with a 0-2 reverse away to Golden Arrows, the Maritzburg contingent are very much aware of the need to get some positive results in the bag in order to climb up the table and to boost morale in the squad.
“Wednesday's game is very important to bounce back," Ofori said. “It is back to the drawing board, we had a look at the last game, we have to look at the positives, and we need to listen to the coach and do the right things at the right time."
In 14th place, Free State Stars are just two positions and two points above the Team of Choice, making for a crunch, must-win encounter for Maritzburg.
The Bethlehem-based side also began the year with a defeat; 1-2 against log leader Bidvest Wits, and like Maritzburg, they also have a new coach at the helm, in Nikola Kavazovic.
"Stars are very good team, they have a new coach, they have changed the way they play, they start from the back, that tells you the way that the team wants to play," Ofori explained.
"They are also in a challenging position. Every game is like a cup final, we just need to focus, now it is about confidence - we need men to fight so we can get out of this position. We have been preparing well but we have not been getting the results that we need," Ofori concluded.
The KZN Capital City club have a score to settle with Ea Lla Koto, who beat Maritzburg at the Harry Gwala Stadium last season in the league, before going on to edge United 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup final at the end of the 2017/18 campaign. Maritzburg also lost their first round match against Stars earlier this season at Goble Park 1-2.
Overall there have been 22 matches between the two sides, with Maritzburg having recorded four wins and eight draws.
