The result earned Zimbabwe a 3-2 aggregate victory, following their 0-1 defeat in the first leg of the first round qualifying match away in Somalia last Thursday, a game in which Augusto also featured.
On target for the Warriors at the Barbourfields Stadium on Tuesday were Marshal Munetsi, Admiral Muskwe and Khama Billiat.
Augusto's fellow Zimbabwean at Maritzburg United, Gabriel Nyoni, was not part of the squad.
Team of Choice goalkeeper Richard Ofori was not involved in international action, as Ghana, like South Africa, were automatically placed in the second round (group stage) of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Ofori’s Ghana team will however be involved in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON ) qualifier later this month, when they host Burkina Faso on September 20.
The Black Stars are in the same AFCON qualifying group as Bafana Bafana, and will meet on November 11. Sudan and either Mauritius or São Tomé e Príncipe are the other teams in the group.
Maritzburg’s international contingent from ‘Down Under’ – Micah Lea’alafa, Jeremy Brockie and Dan Morgan, were not in action as their countries did not have any fixtures scheduled over the recent international week.
On the plus side, this means that Team of Choice coach Eric Tinkler did not have to worry about players returning from long distance destinations with injury or fatigue, and enabled him to have a near-full squad to work with over the last couple of weeks.
Maritzburg are next in action in Pretoria, where they take on Mamelodi Sundowns on September 21.
