Igesund: Petersen not for sale



Coach Gordon Igesund has declared that star defender Peter Petersen is not for sale, stating that media speculation on the player’s future must be ended.

Petersen had an excellent season at right back for United, and his services are highly regarded by Igesund.

“Peter Petersen is not for sale – he is a Maritzburg United player and I would like people to stop using the media to pester the player and the club.

“Peter is very happy with at the club, he is enjoying his football here. I am tired of hearing in the media that club’s are interested in him. Under no circumstances do I plan to let Peter leave the team. He is still under contract at Maritzburg for two seasons and we have an option for an additional season after that.

”He is not going anywhere – we constructed solid foundations in this team last season and are building something here. A player of Peter’s calibre is an important part of the squad and of my plans – again, I would like to say‘hands off’ to all those who are doing their best to unsettle the player and the club.”
