The Match Facts: Maritzburg v Chiefs
25 September 2014

Historically, Maritzburg United have fared very well against Kaizer Chiefs, although right now AmaKhosi are on a red-hot run of form.

The Team of Choice take on Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night (20H15 kick off), with United currently in sixth position on the standings, while the Soweto side top the Absa Premiership table after winning all six games so far this season, and were also crowned MTN8 champions last weekend.

Coming away with a point, or even three, will be a tall order for Steve Komphela and his men, but they can take heart from what has been a very decent record against Chiefs over the years.

The two sides have met 16 times in the league before, with Chiefs winning six, Maritzburg four, while six games ended in draws.

Two of United’s four league victories over Chiefs were recorded away from home, with AmaKhosi having beaten the PMB side four times in Gauteng.

Last season’s corresponding fixture resulted in a 2-0 win for Chiefs, with the return game ending 0-0.
