31 October 2015
Maritzburg United's troubled start to the league season continued as they went down 3-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night.

Sundowns made their intentions clear early on with Ramahlwe Mphahlele seeing his looping header cleared off the line by Philani Zulu.

Pitso Mosimane's men struck in the ninth minute of the match as Themba Zwane scored a goal, following an assist by Teko Modise.

Brian Onyango was to play a key role as United kept a rampant home side at bay for the rest of the half.

Mphahlele was close to netting early on in the second stanza with his audacious attempt from an acute angle flying just over Virgil Vries’s crossbar.

Vries pulled off a great save to deny Keagan Dolly in the 55th minute.
