29 November 2016

A Deolin Mekoa goal was not enough for three points as Maritzburg drew 1-1 with Chippa United at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday night.

Chippa had some early chances through Katlego Mashego, while Dennis Weidlich fired an effort just wide for the Team of Choice.

Kwanda Mngonyama then went close for United nine minutes before the break.

Maritzburg were 1-0 up in the 57th minute when Mekoa got his second goal in three games, capitalising on a goalkeeping error.

Chippa came storming back and had chances through Paseka Mako and Bereng, but Bongani Mpandle made two good saves, before Bongani Kama hit the bar for the visiting team.

The equalsier came 15 minutes from time, Tembinkosi Lorch scoring with a well-taken header.
