SuperSport United 4-1 Maritzburg United
22 February 2017

Maritzburg United led at the break, but were powerless to stop SuperSport United from storming back to claim victory in a league match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night.

It started well for the Team of Choice when captain Kurt Lentjies, back from suspension, netted with a sublime scorcher into the top corner from just outside the box on 14 minutes.

Apart from a Deolin Mekoa drive which veered wide, SuperSport came back looking for an equaliser, but Thabo Mnyamane and Jeremy Brockie were unable to beat Virgil Vries with headed efforts, while Kingston Nkhatha fired wide before Morgan Gould was also denied by the United keeper a minute before the break.

Matsatsantsa winger Mandla Masango leveled the score-line six minutes after half time after probing the ball home from close range.

Masango then put the hosts in front just a minute later, side-footing home after a blistering counter-attack.

Nkhatha registered in the 59th minute with a spectacular overhead kick before Brockie tapped in a Thabo Mnyamane cross in the 65th minute to complete the scoring.

Maritzburg had a couple of moments in attack after that, but never really threatened to mount a comeback.
