The 21-year-old Ndlovu, who hails from Ashdown in Pietermaritzburg, rose through the Team of Choice youth development ranks before making his debut in the PSL last season.
He kicked on this season in sensational style with plenty of goals and assists and has proven a massive asset in both attack and defence, picking up a string of Man of Match awards in what has been a dream season for the tenacious young midfielder.
Now to cap it all off, Ndlovu made his Bafana Bafana debut when coming off the bench against Angola before starting in the 2-0 win over Zambia in a four-nation tournament final last weekend.
“It leaves us proud and makes it much easier that this showcase of Ndlovu can be displayed to all the youth in the province, especially in the KZN Midlands, where players know that they have an opportunity with Maritzburg,” said Kadodia.
“And it wasn't a situation where the player had to run to any team in Johannesburg in order to be recognised. I think now there's a belief that the young talent in Pietermaritzburg can look at the platform of Maritzburg knowing that the club will consider them.
“I think that's important and the breakthrough that Ndlovu has had will have a spiral effect on the future youth. We are very proud of how far and how fast he has developed. He was promoted to the first team and then 18-months later he is called to the Bafana setup. It makes me feel humble to see the kind of progress this boy has made,” the Chairman added.
Kadodia also spoke of the importance of Maritzburg finishing their season strongly and striving hard to achieve their objectives for the campaign.
“Yes, people have been giving us praise, but now it’s important that we have an achievement to go with that. One of those aspirations is to get into a cup final. But we must first overcome our first hurdle on Saturday, and then look at the outcome of the draw.”
In closing, the Chairman paid tribute to the important role the fans play for the Team of Choice.
“We must credit the fans for us being where we are. My message to the technical team is that the fans will always support you. Play a brand of football that is exciting and attacking, and you will always have the fans behind you. We had the same fans when we were fighting relegation.
“The brand of football the technical team is building is what people want to see, over the last three years the football we have been playing has brought the fans to the Harry Gwala Stadium.”
