Coach Muhsin was left disappointed after the Team of Choice slipped to a 2-0 loss, but the Turkish boss believes there are plenty positives to take from the loss.
United succumbed to a sixth defeat of the Absa Premiership season. Goals in either half handed Abafana Bes’thende all three points, and despite finishing the game a man less and an onslaught from the visitors in the second stanza, Komphela’s side still managed to secure victory and a league double over their neighbours.
“I think the second half performance changed completely where we came back into the game," coach Muhsin stated. "Physically Golden Arrrow’s were much more prepared, they went in every tackle. We had some chances, one vital chance when we could have got back into the game but we missed the target. I think all in all we can take a lot of positives from this game."
The new United mentor highlighted the fact that he knew Komphela well having worked with him at Kaizer Chiefs and that at times it would be a very tough tactical battle.
“For us we knew that it was going to be a very tough game. We know that Steve is tactically very organised. We know that he was going to operate with diagonal balls and twice from that they scored goals. Obviously we worked on it but we failed to find any entries with three at the back. The reason I kept it the same was because the team played the last eight games with this shape,” coach Muhsin concluded.
It is now a quick turn-around for the Team of Choice as they host fellow relegation candidates, Free State Stars, in a crunch midweek fixture on Wednesday evening. Kick-off is at 19:30.
