Mohau Mokate had given the Team of Choice a fourth minute lead, but after missing several excellent chances to add to their tally, the scoreline was back to 1-1 when Aubrey Modiba netted, before Moseamedi’s late intervention. All three of Maritzburg’s goals were created by Fortune Makaringe.
With the home fans spurring their team on, Maritzburg were off the perfect start when Mokate headed in a pin-point Makaringe cross.
United were playing some fantastic football and Siphesihle Ndlovu nearly added a second three minutes later, but SuperSport keeper Ronwen Williams did brilliantly to tip the ball around the post and then also got behind a Makaringe effort.
Around the half hour mark, Yannick Zakri missed two good chances in quick succession when he blasted a shot wide of an unguarded goal after a mistake from Williams, before shooting straight at the keeper two minutes later with the goal at his mercy.
Just before the break, Brian Onyango sent a header over the bar, before Bradley Grobler went close in what was SuperSport’s first real chance.
The KZN Capital City side suffered a big setback just a minute after the break when Modiba was given space on the edge of the box and rifled in an unstoppable effort.
The Team of Choice tried to find their rhythm again, but it took some time before they began to look likely to find another goal.
It took the introduction of Moseamedi in the 70th minute to turn things around – within two minutes of replacing Mokate, he stole into the box and headed home another fantastic delivery from the outstanding Makaringe.
SuperSport however continued to have chances of their own, and there were a couple of efforts on goal, but nothing to overly trouble home keeper Richard Ofori.
Then, deep inside added time, Makaringe broke up field and while it looked like he may take the ball to the corner flag to run down time, he cleverly played through Moseamedi, who poked the ball past Williams and into the net.
The result leaves Maritzburg on 26 points, one point behind Black Leopards, Chippa United and Free State Stars, and two behind Baroka FC, whom they play away next Saturday in their final league match of the season.
