TEAM OF CHOICE HEADING OFF TO THE FREE STATE FOR NEDBANK CUP LAST 16

An away tie against Bloemfontein Celtic awaits Maritzburg United in the last 16 of the
2020 Nedbank Cup.




The fixtures are yet to be released, but the dates pencilled in are 21, 22, 23 February.

 

The Team of Choice booked their spot in this round by beating Stellenbosch FC 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 thriller at the Athlone Stadium last weekend.

 

Celtic meanwhile earned their place in the last 16 with an emphatic 4-1 victory over AmaZulu.

 

Phunya Sele are just two points behind United on the log standings.

 

The league match between the two sides earlier this season resulted in a 2-2 draw at the Harry Gwala Stadium, with Judas Moseamedi netting a 93rd minute equaliser after Daylon Claasen had struck an 87th minute penalty as United clawed back a late point.

 

The clubs also met in the 2018 Nedbank Cup, with the Team of Choice winning 2-1 on the way to reaching the final.
