Team of Choice face tough SuperSport challenge
21 October 2014

Maritzburg are up against one of the form teams in the PSL when they take on SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday evening.

While the Team of Choice go into the game with a 3-1 victory over Platinum Stars still fresh in the minds, SuperSport have in their last three league matches taken all nine points, scored nine goals and conceded just one.

Under Gordon Igesund, Matsatsantsa appear a team revived after what was a slow start to the campaign. Historically, Maritzburg have not fared well against the Tshwane side, with just one win in 16 matches over an eight year period, during which time SuperSport won eight times.

However, United can take confidence from the fact that their solitary victory came in last season’s corresponding game in Pretoria, the PMB side winning 3-1.

Steve Komphela’s side will however need to improve on an away record which has yielded just two points from four matches this season.

The two teams are separated by just one place on the Absa Premiership standings, with Maritzburg in eighth and SuperSport seventh, both on 12 points.
