Maritzburg United maintained their unbeaten run of form at home this season when they played to a 0-0 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Team of Choice almost went in front on five minutes when Thamsanqa Mkhize's header from Thokozani Sekotlong's corner flew just over the crossbar.


Maritzburg goalkeeper Virgil Vries made a superb save from Lerato Lamola from point blank range on 33 minutes after the Celtic frontman had been clean through on goal.

 

Phunya Sele Sele were not far off when a header from Alfred Ndengane went just wide before former Maritzburg defender Ruben Cloete saw a shot from distance deflected only for Vries to make another good stop.

Maritzburg had their best chance of the night on 66 minutes when substitute striker Mohammed Anas got on to a header from Nhlanhla Vilakazi, but his powerful strike was hit straight at Patrick Tignyemb in the visitor's goal.

Maritzburg finsished the match strongest, but could not create any decent chances on goal late on.
