SPANISH SPORTSWEAR MANUFACTURERS – “JOMA” IDENTIFIES WITH THE TEAM OF CHOICE: A FIRST FOR SOUTH AFRICA.

Maritzburg United unveiled their new technical sponsors “JOMA” at a glittering function at the Maritzburg City Hall on Tuesday night the 19 August 2008.

The launch of their new technical sponsor was exposed to the top dignitaries in the Province and special guest, PSL’s chief executive officer, Mr. Kjetil Siem who was one of the speakers at the function.

Other dignitaries included MEC for Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Zweli Mkhize who gave the key note address, MEC for Sports and Recreation Amichand Rajbansi who also gave a speech, Maritzburg’s Deputy Mayor Mr. Mervin Dirks and Mr. Omar Latif on behalf of JOMA S.A. were also amongst the speakers.

On the partnership with “JOMA”, Club Chairman, Mr. Farook Kadodia expressed his gratitude of their association with Maritzburg United and their agents Jumbo Footwear in his address at the launch. This partnership is invaluable to all stakeholders associated with the Team of Choice and he assured the agents that Maritzburg United will make every effort in making it a leading brand in South Africa and be the proud users of their product.

The occasion also marked the introduction of the playing staff, head coach and his technical staff. Head Coach Gordon Igesund in his address said that he is looking forward to the challenge and praised the management for their support.

He acknowledged his technical team in speeding the preparation of the squad for the season ahead. He also thanked, the team manger, Mr. Quintin Jetto in ensuring the readiness of the squad from an administrative perspective.
