DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
AN ADDITION TO OUR FOREIGN BRIGADE
The U13 side has just recruited 11 year old Bjark Bakke, who hails from Satavanger in Norway. He is here with his family for 5 months. His dad is a professor and doing research at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal.
According to his dad young Bark has been involved with football from the age of 4 and trains every day. The team he plays for in Norway is called Viking-12 F.C. Bjark was concerned about is training in South Africa. When he spotted the U13 squad training he asked to join their session, and has been there since. United registered young Bjark and will play is first game United colours on the 30 August against Pirates F.C. at the Ellis Smith Grounds.
His dad is impressed with the methodology and believes he will go home a far superior player in his age group. According to the United U13 Coach, Simo Msomi, Bjark has not missed training since he joined the Club some two week ago. He is very skilful and has an enormous appetite for the game.
His dad is impressed with the United Development Programme and credits the coach for the way he conducts the sessions. Prof. Bakke believes the continued presence of the ball at training is the way for players of Bjark age group. Another plus is his popularity with the U13 squad. If stays longer he would be able to speak Zulu, quipped the Professor.

WEEK END YOUTH RESULTS.
Our U17 side was the toast for our youth teams this week end when they participated in the Metropolitan KO Cup. The Metropolitan League is a open league with no age restrictions. The competition is a prelude to the start of the Metropolitan League and our U17 team was invited.
Results: Metropolitan K.O. Cup
Game One: vs Ghanas F.C. won 5-3
Game Two: vs Atlantico F.C. won 1-0
This competition will continue on Saturday the 06 September at the Dare Osborne Grounds.
In their Maritzburg and District F.A. League fixture they thrashed a helpless Milano F.C. 13-0 on the 31 August.
U15
The U15 team continue on their merry run to league glory with a come from behind win 3-2 against Young Manchester F.C. on Saturday.
U13
The U13 side was fixtured against Deccan Rangers F.C They were awarded a walk over as Rangers did not pitch.
Aacdemy Team Draw in a Bruiser
The academy team suffered a late equalizer in the their SAB League fixture against SAP Callies F.C. in a 1-1 draw at the Dare Osborne to share the points on Saturday. After a goal less first half, Lucky Nene got United on the score sheet with a well taken strike in the 7th minute of the second half.
United could have been three goals up had Sabelo Phakathi converted the 1 on 1 opportunities in front of goal. Callies got the equalizer via a free kick in the 87th minute. Overall it was a tough encounter and we did well to get a valuable point from the game.
