UNITED SUCCUMB TO LEICESTER CITY

Maritzburg United Academy team lost 2-1 to Leicester City F.C. in their Castle away league fixture on Friday night at the Northdale Stadium. It was a hard fought game with the result going Leicester’s way.

Leicester led one nil in the first half, via a set piece. United came out smoking in the second half and virtually camped in their half, however they got their second against the run of play which was questionable, considering the standard of refereeing. There was only one lines man and the resultant goal came from the end with no lines man.

The United lads got their first in the 69th minute and could have got the equalizer and winner but poor finishing by the United strikers proved costly. Overall their Coach Katz Naidoo was pleased with his boys performance, and believes that they were unfortunate not to come away with at least a point.
