UNITED ON SHOW



On Saturday the 11 October 2008 the marketing department of the Club went on show at the Liberty Midlands Mall from 11h00 to 13H00.

The objective of the show, was to expose the team to the “City of Choice” in order to mobilize support for the team and give the public the opportunity to meet their stars. More importantly to ensure that supporters and well wishers were accessible to the players and the team in general.

With the entire technical team and first team squad present as will as the Chairman, Mr. Farook Kadodia, the public response was huge and participation of the event’s programme attracted large numbers of the team’s fans and other interested parties.

United’s PRO Mr. Brain Zuma introduced the entire team and its technical staff to the throngs of people present, with many of the players showing off their skills to their delight and Coach Igesund adding to the occasion with a trade mark skill. Another highlight was the ball skills competition that attracted 10 participants from the huge crowd present. The top three were handsomely rewarded with replica jerseys, juice bottles, umbrellas and “Joma” soccer balls.

The autograph session created a buzz when the marketing team gave out team posters for the players to append their signatures for the fans, who also had the opportunity to be photographed with their favourite stars.

The merchandising counter was busy with United’s fans having the opportunity to purchase the team’s memorabilia at special rates. There was also a counter where season tickets and membership cards could be purchased. Trade was brisk.

For the United team this was an excellent marketing strategy that showcased all facets of the “Team of Choice”.

Head Coach Gordon Igesund had a hectic morning taking photographs with all the supporters that visited the United stand. We salute the coach who took time to ensure that those who wanted to be photographed with him, were obliged.
