WE ARE ON THE MEND: Gordon Igesund

" Defeat against the Title holders Supersport was our first and yes on the night they were superb and we were totally outclassed. Having said that, you have to realize that five of my regular starters were not available due to injuries or suspensions. Namely, Elias Ngwepe, Gary Goldstone, Tony Tsabedze, Sam Ndlovu and in-form striker Fadlu Davids and I must say they were sorely missed on the night.

With my regulars not available it gave me an opportunity to give my fringe players a run, with three making their Premiership debut. I think the stage was too big and stage fright took its toll. I have to accept that against the class of Hunt’s team, it did have an effect.

We need to know that these players campaigned in the first division and the Premiership is a totally different game. But I remain confident that the learning curve will be a thing of past. I have the belief in my squad that they are capable of holding their own against the best. It is a matter time for them to adapt.

But this set back will not allow us to drop our heads, and with the full squad now available we are ready to get back to our winning ways.

We take on in-form Golden Arrows at the Woodburn Stadium on Wednesday the 5 th November, our first real home game. Our other two home games were played in Chatsworth (Chiefs) and Hammarsdale (Amazulu). The lads know we owe it to our supporters to make a huge effort in our first real home game.

Golden Arrows is a good team that punished both the Soweto giants, Chiefs and Pirates scoring four times in each game, and that is no mean feat. We are up for the challenge, while we respect them but on the day it is going to be a typical derby that could go either way. Derby’s are known to be great levelers and this will be one of those games that will bring out best from both sides.

Since this is our first home game I am appealing to our supporters to be there in their numbers. The Chairman. Mr. Farook Kadodia worked tirelessly to have this ground available for all our home games. I am looking forward to see “the sea blue” in the stadium and acknowledging his efforts with your presence.

I also appeal to the business owners to allow their employees the afternoon off to be at the grounds to urge the lads on. The kick-off is at 15H30.

The management has also made it possible for scholars in school uniforms to be allowed in free into the grounds. See you there.
