OUTSTANDING AND BRILLIANT - United Supporters
Even in defeat Maitzburg United’s brand of soccer on the day was reminiscent of the movie “Brave Heart” according to die heart United supporter, Nahren Lutchman.
"For the first time in United’s history they were magnificent. They went beyond the call of duty and it was travesty of justice they did not share the spoils. The supporters left the stadium knowing their team and their style of play was electrifying. They thoroughly out played and dominated the team of the moment," said Mike Mkhize.
"We salute the coach for instilling a style of play that we the supporters of the Club love, said Yousuf Hafijee. They were brilliant and totally outplayed, out thought and out performed Arrows. We were unlucky and were denied a legitimate goal, this was evident on the recorded version of the game viewed on SABC 1."
"Form team Golden Arrows were really lucky to get the points that they did not deserve, I must congratulate the team and the technical staff for the performance, we were simply the best , said Jabulani Ncobeni.
These were some of the comments amongst the supporters as they left the stadium, proud and happy.
Coach Gordon Igesund praised his players for their outstanding performance but was despondent not to get something out it.
"I felt we should have won this derby handsomely as we outplayed Arrows in all departments and were tactically astute throughout the 90 minutes except of the opening 15 minutes of the game.
"I can promise our supporters we will continue to play the brand of football we displayed. I was pleased with the players with the way they went about their responsibilities. Be it individually, as a group or as a team. Special praise to all the players that did duty, so admirably.
"I am positive that we will be able to carry this performance to next our game and for me the brand of football as to meet the satisfaction of our loyal supporters. I think we are doing that.
To our supporters being there it is special for the team and it was pleasing to see you their in your numbers. You’ll definitely lifted our performance," said Igesund.
