UNITED LOOKING TO CONSOLIDATE POSITION: Gordon Igesund

"A win against Bay United who were also struggling gives us an edge against a Free State Stars side that are also desperate to get off the basement. Having said that, I am aware it is going to be an uphill battle against a tough and physical Stars outfit who are desparate for points Another concern is that we take them on in their comfort zone, where they got the better of much more fancied teams.

"We are up for the challenge and will be there knowing what is expected of us. The target is to win the game which will be a great achievement and denying them points will be satisfying, but on the other hand a point at the end of the day will also be pleasing. Realistically a win is not beyond our capabilities and the expectations is high in the squad.

"I am not happy at the way we perform away although we have solid performances at home, I am hoping that consistency will set in. With the team starting to gel, gaining experience and form, I am looking forward to the much needed points.

"We also have some injuries with John Arwuah and Junior Khanye out of contention, Fadlu Davids and Brice Aka will face late fitness tests. We have a busy Christmas programme that includes Orlando Pirates, Sundowns and Thanda Royal before the Christmas break. Points from the Stars game will be great for us and we will going out to win this game.

"I also I want to take this opportunity to thank the club supporters for believing in and encouraging the team. I really do appreciate it. I have been with other clubs where the supporters were rude, abusive and aggressive. This really impacted negatively on the players. Thank you for being there when we need you the most. You are the tonic for the Team of Choice."
