SuperSport game ends in defeat

Maritzburg United went down 3-1 to SuperSport United at the Woodburn Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Brice Aka tested Denis Onyango was forced into making a great save in the fourth minute when Brice Aka struck a powerful shot from just outside the box.

But in the seventh minute SuperSport went ahead when Morgan Gould headed in Elias Pelembe's corner kick.

United fought back and in the 16th when Sipho Mngomezulu's shot flew narrowly wide of Onyango's right hand upright.

In the 18th minute the Tem of Choice were rewarded with an equalisre when Lynch Pule hheaded home Siphiwe Mkhonza's cross.

SuperSport should have scored but defender Bongani Khumalo headed over from six yards out, and then for the home side, John Arwuah smashed a powerful shot just over the crossbar from 25 yards out in the 33rd minute.

Six minutes after the restart Gould came close to getting his second goal when he met Laffor's cross, but the defender's header struck the crossbar.

Pelembe missed another chance when he headed off target in the 67th minute, but three minutes later he netted from Laffor's cross to put the Pretoria side back in front.

Pelembe made it 3-1 in the dying minutes of the game with a great long-range effort.
