Arrows bring United down to earth
The KwaZulu-Natal derby against Golden Arrows ended in a 5-2 defeat for the Team of Choice.
Hunter Gilstrap started in goal for the Team of Choice after Tashrique Goldman failed a last minute fitness test.
Rodgers Kola put Abafana Bes'thende in front after only nine minutes when he scored from the edge of the box.
Two minutes later Arrows increased their lead when Nhlanhla Zothwane punished a slip up in United's defence.
Maritzburg looked better in the second half, enjoying more than their fair share of possession and scoring two goals - unfortunately they also conceded a further three.
Fanyana Dhladhla gave the Team of Choice some hope when he pounced from close range to half the deficit.
But their joy was short-lived as Richard Henyekane scored five minutes later to restore Arrows' two goal cushion.
Arrows were reduced to 10 men in the 66th minute when Mzivukile Tom was sent off for his second yellow card.
But United were unable to profit from this as Joseph Musonda scored in the 82nd minute to make it 4-1.
Henyekane netted his brace with two minutes to go, before Tony Tzabedze scored a late consolation goal for Maritzburg.
