MARITZBURG CRASH OUT OF THE CUP
Maritzburg United's good run in the Nedbank Cup came to an end when they went down 2-0 to Moroka Swallows at the Germiston Stadium on Sunday.
United had the better of play in the first half, but could not convert a couple of good chances that came their way.
Just past the half hour mark, Collen Zimba had a good chance to open the scoring but he wasn’t able to beat Etafia with his effort on goal after haven taken the ball off Sydney Plaatjies.
Swallows’ Mark Haskins broke the deadlock with 15 minutes to go with a brilliant long range shot.
And, with United throwing numbers forward late in the game to try and get themselves back on level terms, Sandile Ndlovu capitalised to make it 2-0 in the dying minutes.
Teams:
Swallows: Etafia, Kobola, Da Silva, Rancan, Plaatjies, Oersen, Tsutsulupa, Denge, Haskins (Themba 90’), Ndlovu (Meiring 88’), Ngcepe (Alves 63’)
