"POSITIVE RESULT WILL BE A MORALE BOOSTER"
19 November 2020

A trip to Thohoyandou to play Black Leopards in their own den is an encounter which many teams find challenging.

This is what awaits Maritzburg United this weekend as we take on Lidoda Duvha in a DStv Premiership encounter on Saturday afternoon. Kick off is at 15h30.

It hasn't been a great start to the season for the Team of Choice and we are yet to win in the league.

However, it's when the chips are down that true character and bravery are needed, and this has something which the Pietermaritzburg club have exhibited in the past couple of seasons.

Looking to kick-start the new season, head coach Eric Tinkler is calling for a big effort from his men as we look to start picking up some positive momentum in the upcoming weeks.

"It's a tough away fixture but we are trying to get back to winning ways. So we obviously need to go to Thohoyandou and get a positive result," coach Eric said.

"I think getting a positive result there will boost the morale and confidence of the team and we can then see ourselves turning the corner in getting more good results.

"The good thing is we have a few more players who are available to us and that makes the team selection a lot harder - but at the same time gives us more depth."

The Team of Choice are close to a clean bill of health, with the only injury absentee being Mxolisi Kunene.

Riyaaz Ismael and Sibusiso Hlubi will however miss the game through suspension.

Head-to-head record

Historically there has been little to choose between the teams - in 11 matches, Leopards have won four, Maritzburg three, and there have been four draws. Last season Leopards did the double over United, a 3-2 home win and a 1-0 victory at the Harry Gwala Stadium
