IN TOUCH WITH: MIGUEL TIMM
30 April 2020
In Thursday's edition of our Q&A series, we put our industrious central midfielder Miguel Timm under the spotlight.
Timm, 28, arrived from Chippa United in January 2019 and has proved to be an astute signing by Maritzburg United.
He previously played for Bidvest Wits, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Phoenix Rising in the United States.
The Durban-born Timm has added considerable steel to the Team of Choice's engine room, from where he reads the game superbly and pulls the strings with his passes.
Always committed 100% on the field, Miguel is equally committed off the park right now as he keeps himself fit, studies online, home-schools his daughter and stays in touch with his team-mates.
MUFC: Where are you spending the lockdown?
Miguel Timm (MT): I’m in Joburg with my wife and daughter.
MUFC: How are you keeping busy?
MT: Daily workout, online classes, school work with my daughter and watch the news.
MUFC: How often do you speak to your teammates/ coach?
MT: 2/ 3 times a week.
MUFC: Who is the person you are most in contact with during the lockdown and how do you guys chat?
MT: Dan [Morgan], Jeremy [Brockie], Keagan [Buchanan], [Tebogo] Tlolane and a lot of the other guys. We do video calls.
MUFC: Have you ever imagined life without football? And what would you have done for a career had you not been a footballer?
MT: I have, because I will not play football forever. A career would be sport/ child nutritionist or maybe a stock trader.

MT: Fifa 20, Ozark, Money Heist, All or nothing (Man City documentary). Cash flow quadrant (book)
MUFC: Looking at the season so far, which was the most impressive result/ game for the team?
MT: Telkom semi-final (Kaizer Chiefs), Bidvest Wits away game, Kaizer Chiefs away game (league), Stellenbosch home game, Cape Town City (both), Polokwane City away before the final.
MUFC: In which match do you feel you played your best?
MT: They are few, but I will choose Telkom semi-final against Chiefs because of its importance.
MUFC: What was the best goal scored by MUFC this season?
MT: Second goal Telkom semi-final (Judas Moseamedi), Thabiso Kutumela’s equalizer against Stellenbosch in the Nedbank Cup. Chiefs away (both goals). All team goals are the best especially Yusuf Jappie’s bender (free kick against Polokwane City).
