CONDOLENCES FROM MARITZBURG UNITED ON NKANYISO MNGWENGWE PASSING

18 May 2020

Maritzburg United Football Club extends our sincere heartfelt condolences to the Golden Arrows family and to the family of Nkanyiso Mngwengwe, who passed away at home early on Monday morning.

Mngwengwe previously skippered Abafana bes'Thende and played more than 140 matches for the Durban team after his debut in 2013.

The tragic news was announced by Golden Arrows on Monday morning and has left the South African soccer fraternity in deep shock.

The Cato Ridge-born defender was only 30-years-old at the time of his passing.

"We were shocked to hear the news this morning, of Nkanyiso's passing at such a young age," said Team of Choice chairman Farook Kadodia.

"From everyone at Maritzburg United, we extend our heartfelt condolences, love and support to Golden Arrows Football Club and to the family and friends of Nkanyiso Mngwengwe, who have lost a brother, a son, a teammate.

"The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Maritzburg are with Arrows and the Mngwengwe family. May Nkanyiso's soul rest in peace and may we cherish the good memories he left us with."
