MARITZBURG UNITED AND UMGENI WATER SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL WATER MONTH

1 March 2021

Maritzburg United and the club's hydration partner, Umgeni Water, will be campaigning for the month of March about the wise use of our most valuable shared resource, water.

As the 30th most water scarce country in the world, it is a cause which all South Africans should be uniting together behind.

Right across the nation, many areas have been affected by droughts and it is becoming ever more critical that each one of us uses our water sparingly and efficiently. Without water there can be no life.

South Africa's own national water week falls between March 15 and March 22 - the 22nd is also the International Water Day.

During this period the focus will be on creating water awareness and consciousness in the community.

The theme for 2021 is ‘Valuing Water’ and the social media hashtags are #ValuingWater #Water2me #WaterMonth2021 #WorldWaterDay2021.

As an influential figure in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands community, Maritzburg United, together with the club's hydration partner, Umgeni Water, will be wholeheartedly throwing our weight behind the cause.

Several of our players will be creating awareness over the importance of water conservation in all our lives as well as touching on the issue of illegal connections and the vandalising of infrastructure, as well as the importance of paying one's bills to ensure good quality water for all.
